Christopher Joseph Marotta of Center Moriches died on Wednesday, August 12. He was 49.
Mr. Marotta was born on January 25, 1960, to Elli and Joseph Marotta of Hampton Bays. A founding member of the Wrenchmen Hot Rod Club, he was an avid lover of hot rods and spent his summer Friday nights at Meschutt Beach for the weekly gathering of classic cars. He also played an important role in the formation of Stidd Systems Inc. in Greenport more than 20 years ago and remained with the company until his death.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Bruno-Marotta; two sons, Joe Marotta and Frank Bruno; his mother, Elli Gordon; three sisters, Vicki Marotta Swanson and her husband Timothy, Salli Figler and her husband Bruce, and Jodi Hu and her husband Huj; a “brother,” Stan Dascombe; six nieces and nephews, Matt, Jamie, Tai, Elli, Noli and Clara; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and his Wrenchmen buddies.
He was predeceased by his father, Joseph Marotta.
Memorial services were held on Saturday, August 15, at Sinnickson’s Funeral Home in Center Moriches, followed by interment at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Center Moriches.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Jewish Center of the Moriches, or a local charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.
