After reading the plethora of letters attacking Nick LaLota and the Republican Party, I thought it was prudent to bring clarity to the current government shutdown.
First and foremost, Congressman Nick LaLota and Congress did their job — they passed the current bill and sent it to the Senate. The Senate, unfortunately, needs 60 votes for this bill to pass, and none of the Democrats would vote for a bill that has already passed the House.
So, let’s be perfectly clear: The Democrats in the Senate, led by Chuck Schumer, refuse to pass this bill, not the Republicans. Senator Schumer has now allowed the radical left of his party to shut down the government and basically control the Democratic Party.
The Democratic Party wants an extension to the subsidies during COVID for health care assistance. The truth is that the Affordable Care Act is not affordable, and they know that further premium payments will rise exponentially, exposing the reality that health care is not affordable under its current state. The reality is, subsidies just hide how high the premiums actually are. Obamacare is an insanely complex, low-quality, high-priced, cost-shifting scheme that’s only grown worse.
They also want other various pork added to cuts regarding PBS and other nonessential favorite causes of their party. All of these issues can be negotiated in the future, but Schumer instead has chosen this path because he is losing his power and must yield to the radicals of his party.
The bottom line is, the Senate was given a clean bill, but Schumer is so scared of the left that he has decided the government needs to be shut down.
Blaming Republicans just means that you have totally ignored the facts — but, clearly, facts don’t matter when it comes to the deranged thinking of the Democratic Party.
The reality is, the Democrats need to look in the mirror and realize they have caused the chaos that will lead to more federal firings. The truth is, they really don’t care about people. They care about power, and their foothold on power has significantly been diminished as this current administration has shown what true leadership means not only to our country but around the world.
Under Donald Trump, this administration has successfully obtained peace in the Middle East, tamed inflation, lowered interest rates, and raised GDP, along with securing our border, something the last administration said only Congress could fix.
Self-reflection and gratitude should be how the Democrats look at the state of our country. The last administration failed miserably at home and abroad, while this administration has conquered not only the past but has set it sights on future successes for our nation.
