Daisy Seymore of Water Mill died on November 30 at Southampton Hospital. She was 78.

Born on June 3, 1930, to Daisy and John Lindsey of Currituck, North Carolina, she worked during her high school years to help support her family.

She married Arthur O. Seymore on June 2, 1951, and 10 years later the two moved to Southampton.

Ms. Seymore worked at Rowe Industries in Sag Harbor for a few years until she found employment as a nurse’s aide at Southampton Nursing Home, where she worked for more than 20 years, retiring in 1996. Survivors said this week that she is still remembered as a wonderful nurse’s aide; everyone she came into contact with loved her and she will be greatly missed.

Also an avid gardener, alongside her husband she planted and grew flowers on the couple’s Water Mill property. The stand was visited by many, family recalled, buying assortments for weddings and other events like the Hampton Classic Horse Show, but mainly for the love and care of each and every beautiful flower.

In addition to her husband, Arthur Seymore, she is survived by two daughters, Paulette and her husband Harvey Pendleton of Southampton and Dawn Seymore of Water Mill; two sons, Arthur Seymore Jr. of Water Mill and Aaron Wade Seymore of Arizona; a brother, Donald Ray Lindsey of North Carolina; four sisters, Lenora Banks, Mattie Woodley, Ramona Lindsey and Mavis Lerocque, all of North Carolina; and a daughter-in-law, Patricia S. Seymore, of Westchester.

She is also survived by two granddaughters, Ashley Pendleton of Southampton and Lara and husband Rossa Cole of New York City; four grandsons, Aaron Seymore of Sag Harbor, Harvey Pendleton Jr. and Darios Pendleton of Southampton, and Trumaine Pendleton of Maryland; a great-grandson, Quinn Sweeney Cole; three special friends, Marian Darden of Water Mill, Rick Coffin of Patchogue and Simonne Bouyea of Brentwood; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A son, Leo A. Seymore, six brothers, John Lindsey, Shelly Lindsey, Jerome Lindsey, Lawford Randolph Lindsey, Joe Willie and Arthur Lindsey and two sisters, Janet Lindsey and Nettie Jackson, all predeceased her.

The family received visitors on December 5 at the Brockett Funeral Home in Southampton, where a prayer service was conducted by Reverend Earl Hopson. A graveside service, also officiated by Reverend Hopson, followed on December 6 at Southampton Cemetery.
