Dempsey James Petrey of Remsenburg died at his home on Saturday, October 11. He was 88.
Mr. Petrey was born in Petery, Alabama on July 21, 1920.
After extended service in the United States Army during World War II in the European and North African theaters, he settled in New York, where he worked as an executive for IBM.
He retired to Remsenburg, where he enjoyed the art of needlework, creating rugs, wall hangings and pillows.
He is survived by a nephew, James Holiday; and his long-term care giver, Virginijus Majeris.
Services were private under the direction of the Follett and Werner Funeral Home in Westhampton Beach.
