Elly O. Wesner of Speonk died on Saturday, April 24. She was 94.
Born on March 9, 1914, in Queens, she moved with her mother, Olga Wesner, to Speonk in 1918. She attended classes in the schoolhouse, which was located on Montauk Highway near Tanners Neck Lane in Westhampton at the time.
Later she lived in Astoria and worked at Horn & Hardart’s Automat in Manhattan. After retiring, she returned to Speonk to care for her mother. Ms. Wesner was an avid painter and gardener, and enjoyed astrology and animals.
She is survived by family members, Elizabeth, Kurt Jr., Robert, David, and Danitel Fox, and Diane Nieves-Fox.
Funeral services were private and held under the direction of Follett and Werner Funeral Home in Westhampton Beach.
