George Allen McLaughlin of Southampton dies at 65

George Allen McLaughlin

George Allen McLaughlin of Southampton died on August 1 at Bellhaven Nursing Center in Brookhaven following a long battle with lung cancer. He was 65.

Born September 23, 1944, in Southampton, he was a proud U.S. Army veteran who served in Vietnam. He also served as a sergeant in the National Guard and was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Katherine McLaughlin of Southampton; a daughter, Sandra McLaughlin of Southampton; a son, Thomas McLaughlin and his wife Danielle Farias of Rhode Island; a sister, Evelyn Nichols of Florida; three grandchildren, Caitlin Wood of Massachusetts, and Dylan and Isabel Rose of Rhode Island; and many others in his extended family.

Visitation was on August 2 at the O’Connell Funeral Home in Southampton. Interment with full military honors immediately followed at Calverton National Cemetery in Calverton,
