George James Lind of Hampton Bays died on May 1. He was 82.
He was the son of John and Frances Lind.
Lind was an aerospace engineer, who migrated his skills to co-found one of the first companies to develop an early detection melanoma system, wind velocity measurement tools for airports, and worked with NASA on many projects.
He was a humble and caring man, according to his family, who loved swimming, road trips, John Wayne movies, Jack Reacher books, Italian food and ice cream.
He is survived by his wife Judith; his two sons John and Theodore; and three grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him, his family said.
Services will be held on May 15 at 1 p.m., at First Presbyterian Church, Southampton. N.Y.
