Gladys Elizabeth Marcks of Hampton Bays, known to family and friends as “Chickie,” died on Tuesday, July 22, at the Westhampton Care Center. She was 103.
According to loved ones, she devoted her life to her family, and she enjoyed cooking and spending time with friends.
Mrs. Marcks is survived by two daughters, Joan Granuzzo of East Quogue, and Sandra Prezleski and her husband Robert of Hampton Bays; a son, Robert Marcks of Manorville; a sister, Dorothy Klemmer of Sea Cliff, New York; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Clifford Marcks.
A parish prayer service was held at the J. Ronald Scott Funeral Home in Hampton Bays on July 24. A funeral mass was held at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in her original parish in Roslyn, on July 25. Interment followed in the Marcks family plot at Holy Rood Cemetery in Westbury, where she was buried next to her late husband.
