Former manager of the Southampton Club, Herbert Alfred Tagg, of Fairhope, Alabama, died of heart failure at his residence on July 14. He was 91.

Born on July 25, 1916, in London, England, he joined the Royal Corps of Signals and served his country for 15 years, including service during World War II, stationed at various times in the Middle East, India, Europe, Germany, France, and Belgium.

He emigrated to the United States in 1951, settling in Queens and worked for Butler Aviation at La Guardia Airport for 20 years. Then in 1971, he became the manager of the Southampton Club. Upon retiring from the club, he moved to Fairhope for its warmer climate.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Ladia Tagg; a son, Andrew Tagg of Valley Stream; two sisters, May and Maud Tagg of England; a grandson, Andrew Peter Tagg; a mother-in-law, Maria Valenta; and several nephews, nieces, grand-nephews and grand-nieces.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 18, at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home in Fairhope, Alabama.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Humane Society, 306 Magnolia Avenue, Fairhope, AL 36532, or Mercy Medical Home Hospice, 101 Villa Drive, Daphne, AL 36526, would be appreciated by the family.
