Howard M. Spanbock
Howard M. Spanbock, formerly of Hampton Bays, died of complications from melanoma on Saturday, February 4, in Portland, Oregon. He was 62.
Raised in Sands Point, Mr. Spanbock graduated from Worcester Academy in Massachusetts and Wilmington College in Delaware. He had varied careers as the vice president of international sales for a stereo component company, owned a wholesale fruits and vegetable business, and he was a restaurateur. After earning a master’s degree in social work from Fordham University, he became a drug and alcohol counselor. He moved his family to Portland in 2002, and became the CEO of Luke-Dorf Inc., a private non-profit community health agency that provides services for individuals with psychiatric disabilities.
Mr. Spanbock is survived by his wife Claire; three sons, Dr. Will Spanbock of East Quogue, Benjamin Spanbock of California and Zachary Spanbock of Oregon; daughter-in-law, Bria Nardone Spanbock; and two grandchildren; Kayla and Bradyn Spanbock.
