James William Carter

James William Carter of East Quogue died at his home on Monday, June 1. He was 60.

Known as “Tiny” to his friends, he was born on June 18, 1948.

Mr. Carter worked as a mechanic with the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Automotive Department until his retirement, and was a member of the East Quogue Fire Department.

Mr. Carter is survived by his mother, Norma; and relatives in Lake Placid and Aquebogue. He was predeceased by his father, William Carter.

All services were private. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Follett and Werner Funeral Home in Westhampton Beach.

The East Quogue School District will ask voters to approve the district’s proposed $32.3 million budget for the 2025-26 school year, which hikes spending by more than 5 percent but does not pierce the state tax cap.
