Jennifer Skemp O’Grady of Sandy Hook, Connecticut, died on March 23, surrounded by her family, after a long battle with lung disease. She was 72. Ms. O’Grady was born on March 2, 1943, in Chicago to Mr. and Mrs. Robert Oliver Skemp. She grew up in Westport, Connecticut, and graduated from Greens Farms Academy. As a child, she summered in Sagaponack, and she continued to do so throughout her life with her family. Recently she and her husband purchased a family dream home in Amagansett overlooking Napeague Harbor.
Among her passions were world travel, her grandchildren, taking care of her animal friends, and volunteering as a broadcaster for her local fine arts radio station, WMNR, for more than 25 years.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 52 years, Terence J O’Grady; four children and five grandchildren, Terence O. O’Grady and wife Nancy and their son Declan of Sandy Hook; John P. O’Grady and wife Christine and children Kayla and Rachel of Sandy Hook; Robert E. O’Grady of Florida; and Catherine E. O’Grady and husband Joseph Stromsky and children Jenna Mae and Joseph of Sandy Hook. She is also survived by a sister, Susan Skemp Crandall of Oregon; and a brother, Eric Tate Skemp of Washington.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Honan Funeral Home in Newtown, Connecticut.
