Kathryn Bandrowski died at her home in Westhampton Beach on Wednesday, March 11. She was 89.
Mrs. Bandrowski was born in Brooklyn on July 8, 1919. She enlisted in the U.S. Navy WAVES (Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service) in 1943, and remained in the service until 1945.
She married her future husband, John, while she was stationed in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1944. According to loved ones, she was proud of her service to her country.
An active member of the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Quiogue, she enjoyed crafts and spending time with family.
Mrs. Bandrowski is survived by two sons, John and his wife Christine, and Brian; a daughter, Alice Shaughnessy and her husband Michael; a brother, Jack and his wife Margaret; and three grandchildren, Sean, Ainsley and Michaela.
Mrs. Bandrowski was predeceased by her husband John in 2006.
A wake was held at the Follett and Werner Funeral Home in Westhampton Beach on March 15, and a funeral service conducted by Father Joseph Mirro was held at the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Quiogue on March 16. Interment was private.
