I have been so pleased lately with all of the people who have stopped me to say how beautiful the village looks or what a great job I’ve done. My answer is always the same: I have very little to do with it. It is our Department of Public Works employees who work hard to make everything look so great. In between picking up leaves and removing snow, they decorate just about anything that doesn’t move
In this holiday season, it is so nice that people are acting friendlier. This time of year, I reflect on my own good fortune of a family that loves me and great friends who share my life. If only we could make Christmastime last into the year beyond.
In our lives, if we could follow the guidance of “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you,” or the idea of Karma, in that if we think good thoughts, do good deeds and treat one another well, our lives will be so much better.
I will strive for that moving forward. I hope others will as well.
Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays.
Gary J. Goleski
Superintendent of Public Works

Kudos to Craig Catalanotto [“What Are We Doing?” Letters, April 18] and Barbara Ring [“Tangled Web” Letters, April 18] for their letters to the editor shining a light on the web of special interests, conflicts of interest and misinformation that...
September 11 and October 7, similar dates of infamy for strong allies with similarly divergent reactions. Now gathered mobs of protesters are cheering on those who cry “Death to America” and call for the complete annihilation and genocide of the...
On June 25, registered Democrats will go to the ballot box to determine who will represent their ticket for New York’s 1st Congressional District. Although CD1 has recently been held by Republicans, both parties have assumed leadership over the years....
I thank Barbara Ring for aptly proving my point. In response to my letter [“An Alliance,” Letters, April 11], which decried the state of civic public discourse in Hampton Bays as being overtaken by misinformation, fear-mongering and conspiracy peddling, Ring...
