A memorial service for former Southampton resident Elizabeth A. Hyland, who died on December 21, 2012, will be held on Wednesday, November 20, at 3 p.m. at Most Holy Trinity Church in East Hampton. Refreshments will immediately follow in the church hall.
Ms. Hyland was the director of The Elizabeth Hyland School of Ballet, which had locations in Colorado, Southampton and Montauk. Throughout the 1960s and ’70s, Ms. Hyland taught girls of all ages, delighting the surrounding communities with original ballet productions, her survivors said. After she retired to East Hampton 27 years ago, her interests broadened to taking care of her beloved pets, watching vintage movies and oil painting on canvas. Nearby neighbors enjoyed Ms. Hyland’s knack for vegetable gardening, and for many years she was known for raising flowers and operating a small flower stand each summer season outside her home.
All friends, neighbors and fellow ballet students of The Elizabeth Hyland School of Ballet are welcome to attend and bring their memories.
