Memorial Service Set For Arthur DiPietro

A memorial service for former Westhampton Beach resident Arthur DiPietro will be held on Friday, October 25, at 10:30 a.m. at Westhampton Presbyterian Church.

Retired Reverend William Hempel, Mr. DiPietro’s best friend for 56 years, will officiate. All are invited to attend and offer remembrances. Refreshments will be served afterwards in the fellowship hall of the church, of which he was trustee president and which was the home of Mr. DiPietro’s AA group; October 25 would have been his 20-year celebration of sobriety. The next day, in a private ceremony, Mr. DiPietro’s ashes will be spread on a striped bass blitz off Montauk Point, as requested in his will, after which everyone in attendance will fish.

QUOGUE — Quogue Village Police arrested Steven Failla, 48, of Quogue on May 3 at 12:14 a.m. at Jessup Avenue and charged him with third-degree assault, a misdemeanor. The officers were responding to a physical dispute at a residence on Jessup Avenue. Officers on scene performed an investigation and subsequently arrested Failla, as the victim of the assault sustained a physical injury to a hand, police said. Failla was held for morning arraignment. Southampton DWI Arrests for the Week of May 8

Gintaras Satas, 58, of Mastic was arrested at about 11:30 p.m. on May 2 and charged with misdemeanor DWI and several vehicle and traffic violations after the vehicle he was driving nearly struck a Southampton Town Police car that was on the side of Montauk Highway in Water Mill with its lights on conducting a traffic stop of another vehicle. When approached by the officer, Satas was found to be unsteady on his feet and a breath alcohol test indicated he had been drinking more than the legal limit, according to police. by Staff Writer
