Morley Andrew Quatroche Sr.

Morley Andrew Quatroche Sr. of Southampton died on October 8, 2019. He was 94.

Born on May 23, 1925, in Sag Harbor to immigrants Vincent and Dorothea Quatroche, he was raised in Southampton, and was the third of six children. When Vincent Sr. died in 1939, he and older brother Vincent Jr. went to work before and after school to help support the family.

The day after his graduation from Southampton High School in May 1943, Mr. Quatroche enlisted in the Army Air Corps and served as a tailgunner in World War II, stationed in Guam. He flew in over 30 missions on B25s and B29s. After the war, he returned to Southampton and met Helen Quatroche at the local movie theater and she would become his wife of 65 years before her death earlier this year.

In 1957, Mr. Quatroche bought an insurance business, known today as The Morley Agency, Inc. He worked diligently to grow the business into an insurance, real estate and property management agency. He stayed active in the business even after he sold the agency to his son, Morley Jr., in 1993.

In addition to owning his Southampton business, he served on the Zoning Board of Appeals, the Bank of the Hamptons board and was an active Rotary member. He was a founder emeritus member of Southampton Golf Club, and served on its board of directors from 1971 to 1980, and as its president from 1977 to 1980.

Additionally, he was a proprietary member at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club, a founding member and drummer for Big Band East, and a lifetime parishioner of the Basilica Parish of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary.

Survivors said he loved and enjoyed being with his family, was an avid golfer, and would play the drums every chance he got, including at the weddings of his three children. Together, he and his wife lived a full life enjoying many happy times with their friends and family.

Mr. Quatroche is survived by his children, JoAnn (Harry, died 2012), Morley Jr. (Mary), and Susie (Matt); his grandchildren, Morley Andrew III, Emily, Katie and Matthew; and many family members and friends.

Visitation will be on Friday, October 18, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Brockett Funeral Home in Southampton. A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, October 19, at 9:30 a.m. at the Basilica Parish of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary in Southampton, followed by interment at the church cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to Kanas Center for Hospice Care, Box 1048, Westhampton Beach, NY 11978-7048.
