Paul Peter Andrews
Paul Peter Andrews, a lifelong resident of Southampton Village, died at Southampton Hospital on Wednesday, April 18. He was 93.
Born on March 22, 1919 to John and Michalina Andrews (Andruszkiewicz), he had four sisters, Bertha, Alice, Francis and Victoria, and three brothers, John, Tony and Joseph, all of whom predeceased him. His wife, Olga, predeceased him on August 25, 2010.
A veteran of World War II, Mr. Andrews served in the U.S. Army Air Force. He was an aircraft mechanic and instructor. Following his honorable discharge, he worked for several local building firms and retired from Harry Wilde’s Building, Inc., in the mid-1980s. He was a master builder who enjoyed working in his wood shop, gardening, and fishing the local waters.
Mr. Andrews served with the Southampton Fire Department’s Hook and Ladder Company No. 1, and was an active member of Our Lady of Poland Church in Southampton.
He is survived by three children, Paul of New Jersey, Barbara Hamilton and her husband Randy of Henrietta, and Marie Hoover and her husband Brett of West Henrietta; eight grandchildren, Sonja Andrews-Georger and Erika Andrews of Baldwinsville, Jessica and Katherine Hamilton of Henrietta, Paul and Samuel Schulick, and Kyle and Mariah Hoover of West Henrietta; and two great-grandchildren, Nathaniel and Ella Georger of Baldwinsville; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was at the O’Connell Funeral Home in Southampton on Friday, April 20; the Southampton Fire Department held firematic services during the visitation. A funeral Mass was held on Saturday, April 21, at Our Lady of Poland Church.
