To John Neely [“Get Facts Right,” Letters, October 23], thank you for your comments. I’ll try to address them briefly.
James Comey, John Brennan and James Clapper seriously damaged the United States’ reputation for fairness and justice. They have been exposed for using politically motivated lies to subvert our presidency. There is plenty of evidence to back up my argument. Unfortunately, it will be difficult to convict, due to legal statutes of limitation.
Your comments about the affordability of health care, housing, etc. are problems directly attributable to the obscene amounts of money Democrats flooded our economy with during COVID. In economic terms, Mr. Neely, when too many dollars chase too few items, the price for the item goes up. It’s called inflation, and we are still suffering from the steep increases Joe Biden and his Congress brought us in dumping trillions of dollars into our economy.
The current president actually understands how our economy works and is succeeding at getting interest rates to go down and better pricing from foreign markets. Unfortunately, it takes time to get our financial house in order.
As for the health care issue you mentioned, Obamacare was a Democrat fantasy. This program has failed every claim made on its behalf when it was imposed on us. It has led to great cost increases, reduced accessibility, and is in danger of collapse unless saved by unsustainable premium increases.
America always struggles to underwrite Democrat social experiments. Blaming Republicans currently for a shutdown ordered by Chuck Schumer is laughable. I didn’t say the harm to our health care was laughable, just the argument that Hakeem Jeffries makes as Democrats saddle the poorest Americans with bills they can’t handle without paychecks. It’s strikingly similar to how Democrats govern, spending money they don’t have but have no trouble demanding. It’s no coincidence that the most talked about so-called Democrat in the country is a socialist running for mayor of New York City. Our feckless governor, and the aforementioned Mr. Jeffries, have endorsed a young man who will no doubt endeavor to spend as much of other people’s money as he can. Zohran Mamdani hates capitalism, Israel and the police. I hope you find him to your liking, John.
Lastly, why is the chaos ICE agents are confronted with when doing their federally mandated duty praised by anyone? Speech is fine — physical confrontation is anarchy. The mess that mass illegal immigration has created can’t be ignored anymore. Neither is the homelessness permitted in Democrat-run cities.
This country is lucky it has President Donald Trump working to restore competency and sanity to our federal government. The irrational hatred of Trump by Democrats has poisoned any meaningful dialogue between fellow Americans. It has to stop.
