Southampton Village Mayor Jesse Warren is pitting two communities against one another — town versus village — for political gain, and this divisive action must be stopped.
The sewage treatment plant does not belong in a residential area plus agricultural overlay district, where Community Preservation Fund money has already been spent preserving the surrounding agricultural lands.
Our town representatives need to reiterate and make clear to all, especially Mayor Warren, that his lying and bullying is unacceptable. We are many, many more than just “25 people who might be affected by this” [“Watch: Southampton Village 2023 Trustee and Mayoral Debates,” 27east.com, June 1].
We implore town officials to please use our CPF open space money to preserve this parcel; it would be the clearest way to protect this land and prevent it from further dividing our community.

It is difficult to discern if “Southampton Set To Welcome First Legal Cannabis Dispensaries After Site Plan Approvals” [27east.com, August 6] is an article or a press release for the marijuana industry. The reporter does not mention that there are...

I just finished Terie Diat’s letter this week [“A Big Change,” Letters, August 14]; I was anticipating that she would have updated her facts from the trustees meeting of a few months ago that included an open hearing on underwater...
Across our community, outdated and unnecessary landscaping practices are very loud in the way they undermine the health of our natural world. The cycle of constant lawn “care,” as practiced in much of modern suburbia, is less about nurturing nature...
Does anyone who suggests traffic resolutions live in this area or drive in this area? Install bumps on Somerset/Pleasant streets to slow traffic. End the “no right turn” fiasco there, because have you seen the nightmare this “no turning right”...
I’d like to add to Karl Grossman’s column [“Zeldin Under Fire,” Suffolk Closeup, Opinion, July 31], in which he informed readers of Lee Zeldin’s disastrous leadership of the Environmental Protection Agency. Alongside the anti-environmental actions mentioned in Mr. Grossman’s column,...
