Manhattan and Hamptons publicist John Stanislaus Wegorzewski died September 11, at NYU Medical Center from complications of cancer. He was 66.
Co-founder of Alchimia Public Relations & Marketing, Mr. Wegorzewski was predeceased by his business and life partner, Edward Callaghan, who died in April 2015. The firm was best known for working with fine artists, art galleries and art festivals.
Mr. Wegorzewski was born in Toronto on July 25, 1950. He attended York University and began his career in sales, transitioning into high-end jewelry and watch design, which brought him to Manhattan.
He is survived by his mother, Mary; and his sisters, Kristine, Rozia and Maria; as well as a daughter, Alicia and husband Adam; and many friends and associates who knew him as “Johnny.”
A memorial Mass will be held on Monday, October 17, at 10 a.m. at the Basilica Parish of Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary in Southampton, where he and his partner were active and devoted congregants. Details of a reception that will immediately follow the Mass will be announced at the service.
