Salvatore A. Conte Of Hampton Bays Dies March 11

Salvatore A. Conte of Hampton Bays died on March 11, 2017, surrounded by his wife and children. He was 91.

Born on July 23, 1925, he enlisted in the U.S. Marines at age 17 and served in World War II, in the Pacific theater.

Known to many as “Uncle Sal, the Kiddie’s Pal,” Mr. Conte was an active member of St. Rosalie’s parish in Hampton Bays and was a fourth degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus.

Mr. Conte is survived by his wife of 59 years, Rose; and his children and their spouses, Jean and Dio, Frank, Joseph and Vicki, Donna, and Cara; and grandchildren, Thomas, Matthew and Zabrena, Christopher, Nicholas, Robert, Katie, Ben, Sabrina, Alex, and Grant; and one great-grandchild, Anthony.

The family will receive friends at the R.J. O’Shea Funeral Home in Hampton Bays on Saturday and Sunday, March 18 and 19. A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, March 20, at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of St. Rosalie in Hampton Bays.
