Samantha Cheri VanNostrand Dies June 24

Samantha Cheri VanNostrand, formerly of Southampton, died on June 24, 2018. She was 27.

Ms. VanNostrand was a teen youth group member at the Southampton Presbyterian Church. During her elementary- and middle-school years, she was an active teammate of the Tuckahoe Tiger Cheerleading Squad and performed in many competitions on Long Island. She also enjoyed playing basketball while in middle and high school. Survivors said that throughout her 20s she was the life of the party with her bubbly personality and that she brought joy to those around her. She was known for bringing happiness and laughter through her contagious laugh.

She was predeceased by her father, Brian VanNostrand; and her grandfathers, Ralph VanNostrand and Stephen Sheen. She is survived by her mother, Erin Sheen; stepmother Tara VanNostrand; grandparents, Barbara VanNostrand, Frank Corcoran, and Cheri Sheen; six sisters and two brothers, as well as multiple aunts, uncles and cousins.

A funeral service is being planned.

Southampton DWI Arrests for the Week of December 12

William Campos Lopez, 26, of Speonk was arrested on December 8, at 3:40 a.m., by Quogue Village Police charged him with aggravated DWI, a misdemeanor. He was pulled over after being observed speeding and failing to maintain his lane on Montauk Highway, police said.
