Stanley Alfred Pauzer
Stanley Alfred Pauzer of Westhampton died at his home on Saturday, September 29. He was 80.
Mr. Pauzer was born in Kulpmont, Pennsylvania, on May 3, 1932, to Stanley and Helen Pauzer. He served his country with honors in the United States Air Force, including time spent in Korea. He worked for Suffolk County for 25 years as the district manager for its soil and water conservation department.
Mr. Pauzer loved sports and competed in basketball as both player and coach, taking his teams on many occasions to finals and championships. He had a positive impact on numerous lives coaching both Westhampton PAL basketball and Little League baseball, survivors said.
He was a faithful Catholic and taught CCD, led several Catholic prayer groups, served as altar assistant and Eucharistic minister and was a longtime honorary member of the Knights of Columbus. His philosophy of life was to appreciate all that he had and to make the best of life without complaint. He was known for his great sense of humor, deep wisdom and tireless work ethic. He was a generous man of integrity and goodness, survivors said.
Mr. Pauzer is survived by his wife, Mary (née Cassidy), three children, Lorraine Pauzer of Quogue, Margaret Meier and her husband Walt of Florida, and Stan Pauzer and his wife Terry of New Jersey. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Stephen and Christopher Pauzer, and Laura, Mary Kate, Sean, Patrick, Christian and Claire Meier; many cousins, nieces, nephews and other family members throughout Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York and Delaware.
Mr. Pauzer was predeceased by his sister, Margie Stoto, and his brother, Leonard Pauzer.
The family received friends on Wednesday, October 3, at the Follett and Werner Funeral Home, followed by a funeral Mass the Church of the Immaculate Conception on Quiogue. Interment followed at Westhampton Cemetery.
