Terence Patrick Beglane of Hampton Bays died unexpectedly in his home on June 9. He was 59.
After a childhood of summers in Hampton Bays, Mr. Beglane started a career in bar and restaurant ownership by opening The Seaport. That also was the start of a lifetime of being active in the East End community. The various establishments he co-owned — Casey’s of Mineola and Doran’s and The Beach Bar of Hampton Bays — were part of community fundraisers and sponsorships for three decades.
Mr. Beglane’s calm and generous spirit made him a popular figure among local businesses and fellow bar/restaurant colleagues. He also was an active referee and umpire in Suffolk County after years of coaching youth softball and basketball. While he loved Miller Lite and the New York Islanders, nothing matched his devotion to his three daughters, Kelly, Jennifer and Taylor.
Born January 23, 1962 and raised in New Hyde Park, Mr. Beglane attended Chaminade High School and received his undergraduate and master’s degrees in marketing and business from St. John’s University.
He was predeceased by his father Bernard and mother Catherine. Besides his three daughters, he is survived by his siblings Edward, Brian and Bernadette; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held at the R.J. O’Shea Funeral Home in Hampton Bays. A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Rosalie Catholic Church in Hampton Bays.
