Wonderful Job

Commendations to Southampton Village Mayor Jesse Warren for his dedicated commitment to helping protect our village from the COVID-19 outbreak. He has done a wonderful job keeping our community safe and informed using a cutting-edge approach.

The mayor has diligently:

Helped raise over $300,000 to donate ventilators, oxygen helmets and N95 masks to Stony Brook Southampton Hospital.

Additionally, helped raise additional funds, with Robert Chaloner, for needed oxygen tanks.

Initiated secure distribution of surgical masks to residents via a drive-thru delivery system.

Regularly hosted informational sessions with Southampton infectious disease expert Dr. Rajeev Fernando.

Addressed the mask directive in a timely fashion on April 9.

Launched virtual town hall meetings via Zoom with live question-and-answer sessions in cooperation with the Southampton History Museum.

Delivered 2,000 surgical gowns to Stony Brook Southampton Hospital.

Delivered gowns, surgical masks, particulate respirators and sanitizer to nursing homes for residents and staff.

Launched and funded a pop-up COVID-19 testing site, the first East End viral drive-through testing site.

Thank you, Mayor Warren, for keeping the health and safety of our community at the forefront of your agenda in these epic times.

And shame on you, to those who shared the Facebook profile created by one of the village trustee’s spouses, which maliciously portrayed Mayor Warren. This behavior is considered cyberbullying and is unacceptable at all levels. A global pandemic is not the time for this — nor is it ever.
