Veteran poets will read some of their best poems at the East Hampton Historical Society’s annual Poetry Marathon on July 23.

The free event, which runs for four Sundays in July, has been held at the East Hampton Town Marine Museum in Amagansett for 23 years.

The third session of this year’s “Poetry Marathon” features Manhattan resident Jeanne Marie Beaumont, whose poem “Afraid So” was made into a short film in 2006. She has published four books of poetry and her works have appeared in numerous anthologies and magazines including The Nation, Harvard Review and “The Year’s Best Fantasy & Horror 2007.”

Also featured in the session is another Manhattan native, Sharon Dolin, whose book “Burn and Dodge” was selected for the Association of Writers & Writing Programs Donald Hall Prize in Poetry. She was also awarded the distinguished 2013 Witter Bynner Fellowship from the Library of Congress. Her works have appeared in more than 100 magazines including Barrow Street, Denver Quarterly, The Kenyon Review and The New Republic.

The Poetry Marathon will take place at the marine museum on Sunday, July 23, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. For more information, call 631-324-6850 or visit easthamptonhistory.org.
