Landscape designer Larry Weaner will speak about lawn alternatives during the Horticultural Alliance of the Hamptons monthly lecture on Sunday, April 9, at the Bridgehampton Community House.
Mr. Weaner, the principal and founder of Larry Weaner Landscape Associates in Glenside, Pennsylvania, has been practicing landscape design since 1977 and has received numerous awards for his work , including the Landscape Design Award from the New England Wildflower Society for use of native plants.
According to organizers, the lecture will explore practical ways to adapt ground-layer compositions found in native woodlands, wetlands and meadows to residential properties large and small, as well as public landscapes, illustrating how environmental and cost benefits can be realized through the creation of visually stunning lawn alternatives.
Mr. Weaner will also sign copies of his 2016 book, “Garden Revolution: How Our Landscapes Can Be a Source of Environmental Change.”
“Lawn Alternatives: Creating a Successful Groundcover,” will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $10, or free for Horticultural Alliance of the Hamptons members. The Bridgehampton Community House is located at the corner of Montauk Highway and School Street.
