Well, it finally happened. A summer rental to squash all summer rentals. Guess it was only a matter of time.
Set behind the dunes on Meadow Lane in Southampton Village sits an 18,000-square-foot manse that can be yours next Memorial Day to Labor Day for just $2.5 million. You heard us.
If there’s an interested party who can swallow this spicy meatball, it could set a rental record out here. Listing broker Tim Davis with Corcoran told the Wall Street Journal that it might end up being the most expensive seasonal summer rental in the Hamptons, ever. The highest rental he could recall fetched about $1.5 million for the season.
So, what can a vacationer get in a house that would end up costing more than $178,000 per week? For one, an 8-acre property—2 acres of which front Shinnecock Bay with a private dock, while the remaining 6, across the road, are oceanfront. The traditional-style home includes many a terrace, a library, a rather large gym, heated pool and tennis court, game room with billiards and ping-pong, as well as separate guest and servant wings. And, there’s always the private walkway straight to the beach.
The mansion is reportedly the home of Marcia Riklis, whose father is financier Meshulam Riklis. Apparently, she would rather spend next summer somewhere else … and, incidentally, break a record in the process.
