Saunders and Associates has opened a new 5,200-square-foot office at 26 Montauk Highway in East Hampton. The 2-story, traditional gambrel-style building was designed and developed by Andrew and Colleen Saunders.

“East Hampton is defined by these beautiful, old historic structures, and we really wanted to build something that looked like it has been here for 100 years,” said founder Andrew Saunders on Thursday.

The space includes a dramatic, double-height foyer, modern open work spaces replete with a decorative surfboard, a conference room and an “office living room.”

Mr. Saunders is especially drawn to the entrance of the building, he said. “You have this beautiful, double-height entrance gallery, which really takes up almost half the building, with beautiful trimming and woodwork,” he said. “It’s so elegant and rarefied.”

Building for the new office began last July, and while a few agents have already settled in, the space can house a total of 55 agents. This is the company’s third outpost, following Bridgehampton and Southampton Village.

The decision to open in East Hampton was inspired by the company’s ever-growing portfolio of properties, according to the firm. Launched in 2008, Saunders and Associates was involved in 40 percent of all transactions from Southampton to Montauk in 2014, and they now exclusively represent $1.6 billion of Hamptons real estate, the firm said.

A grand opening for the office was held on May 23.
