Two Forks and a Cork
On Saturday, March 7, from 6 to 8 p.m., the Parrish Art Museum Business Council is hosting Two Forks and a Cork — a lively evening of local wine and spirits tastings, hors d’oeuvres, live music, and gallery exploration in an ideal setting for socializing and networking. The event features a selection of white, rosé, and red wines from premier East End vineyards and vodka mixed drinks from a local craft distillery. Admission for Two Forks and a Cork, open to attendees 21 and older, is $55 for Parrish members, $75 for nonmembers.
Guitarist Mike Gari and bass player Steve Shaughnessy will perform live throughout the event, as guests sample wines from Beacon Meadery, Channing Daughters Winery, Kontokosta Winery, Macari Vineyards & Winery, Palmer Vineyards, and Paumanok Vineyards, plus cocktails crafted with vodka produced by Sagaponack Farm Distillery. All wine and spirit producers will be on hand to discuss their processes and products. Special hors d’oeuvres and snacks specially curated to pair with the wine and spirit tastings are provided by Chef Peter Ambrose, Elegant Affairs, Five North Chocolate, The Golden Pear, and The Seafood Shop, with additional tastings provided by Plain-T.
“The museum is grateful to the Business Council for their enthusiasm and diligence in organizing this event that engages the community, and to our sponsors for their generous support” said Chris Siefert, Parrish Art Museum Deputy Director.
Two Forks and a Cork is the finale of the 13th annual Long Island Winterfest: a five week, mid-winter wine, music, and arts festival, that takes place throughout the East End’s unique vineyard tasting rooms, breweries, hotels, and legendary historic and arts organizations. Throughout the evening at the Parrish, guests may visit the galleries to explore “What We See, How We See,” a series of seven special exhibitions that juxtapose distinct image-making approaches by artists working in abstraction and figuration, from the late 19th century until today.
Also on view is the 2020 Student Exhibition — a celebration of youthful creativity features work by more than 1,000 young artists from 37 Eastern Long Island schools from Pre-K to high school.

A Night Out with Artist Melinda Hackett
Nick & Toni’s and The Golden Eagle Studio continue their series of art workshops followed by dinner with “A Night Out With Melinda Hackett” on Wednesday, March 4. The workshop will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the Golden Eagle Studio in East Hampton followed by a two-course dinner over conversation at Nick & Toni’s.
Hackett has shown her work in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Southampton, Stamford and Las Vegas. Her paintings represent states of nonlinear time, and are meant to be experienced fully through the eye of the viewer. She is currently living and working in New York City and Southampton.
“My paintings refer to organic space and unfixed time. To call them landscapes would be misleading since they are poetic inventions of my imagination, and reference the world of nature rather than depict it literally,” says Hackett. “One of my purposes in making paintings is to transport the viewer to a necessarily foreign place, where nature can be experienced without knowing it fully, and where reality is communicated through the senses.”
Space for the event is limited and must be reserved online by noon on Monday, March 2, at goldeneagleart.com. The cost is $85 per person which includes the art workshop (with all materials provided) and the dinner including tax and tip. Nick & Toni’s is at 136 North Main Street, East Hampton (631-324-3550). Golden Eagle Studio is at 144 North Main Street, East Hampton (631-324-0603).
