The winter trio of cookbooks in the “Loaves & Fishes Farm Series” have just been released. Written by Loaves & Fishes owner Sybille van Kempen with chef Licia Kassim Housesholder, the series includes 12 volumes — one for each month of the year — with all new recipes from the food store’s kitchen, centered around fresh ingredients from family-owned farms on Long Island. Each volume visits a different family farm, highlights its finest seasonal ingredients, and includes 20-plus recipes with photographs.
The mission of the farm-to-table cookbook series, which have been released in groups of three, one for each season, is to celebrate local growers and farmers from the North and South Forks of Long Island and beyond, and to encourage families to gather around the table at home together.
The December book focuses on Goodale Farms in Riverhead and its eggs, dairy, cheese, pork and beef, while the January book features the Loaves & Fishes Food Store in Sagaponack with classic recipes from the store and customer favorites throughout the year, and the February book highlights Long Ireland Beer Co. with five beers from the brewery matched with new Loaves & Fishes recipes and comfort food to enjoy with each.
