Assemblyman Fred Thiele issued a statement on February 9 about the Department of Environmental Conservation granting illegal permits for mining [“State’s Highest Court Delivers a Blow to Sand Land’s Effort To Continue Mining,” 27east.com, February 9]. It’s not the only place they’ve issued illegal permits, in my opinion.
Bay View Avenue comes to mind. Where, on the permit application that was submitted, was the question of any easements? It was checked off. Meaning the homeowners lied about purporting to own to the midline. The Department of Environmental Conservation permit also states that it’s null and void if you build past your property line.
But don’t let the written documents, town documents or tax maps get in the way. Issuing permits with eyes wide shut seems to be becoming the government norm.
No wonder the DEC and town have a modification permit in front of them already. Dare we say it? Corruption runs deep.
Still here.
