NOTE: This performance has been canceled due to performer’s illness

Bay Street Theater will sparkle with the music of Barbra Streisand when acclaimed vocalist Jill Gioia takes the stage for “The Main Event: A Barbra Streisand Tribute” on Saturday, April 19, at 8 p.m. This special concert event will feature Streisand’s most beloved classics, including “People,” “The Way We Were” and “Don’t Rain on My Parade,” all performed with Gioia’s signature vocal artistry and accompanied by a live band.

“Jill’s tribute perfectly captures Streisand’s singular blend of technical brilliance and raw emotional power,” said Eric Jacobson, producer of Bay Street’s special events. “It’s exactly the kind of exceptional artistry we love presenting to our audiences.”

Start the evening early at the preshow party in the Bay Street Bar Lobby, opening at 7 p.m. — a lively spot to chat about music, sip on libations, and soak up the buzz before the show.

The concert comes as Bay Street prepares to launch its mainstage season in May with the world premiere of “Bob & Jean: A Love Story” by Pulitzer Prize-winner (and Sag Harbor resident) Robert Schenkkan. This production begins an ambitious season designed by artistic director Scott Schwartz that intentionally bridges established works and new creations, culminating in June’s New Works Festival.

“This season reflects Scott’s thoughtful approach to programming, “ said executive director Tracy Mitchell. “From our mainstage to special events and developmental readings, we’re creating a vibrant conversation between the classic and the contemporary.”

Tickets are $42 to $53 at baystreet.org or 631-725-9500 and at the box office. Bay Street Theater is on Long Wharf in Sag Harbor.
