The Suffolk will host a screening of the documentary feature “Lessons From 100: Reflections in My Centennial Year” as a fundraiser for the Riverhead Lions Club on Thursday, November 6, from 6 to 9:30 p.m.
The film, directed by Matthew Floyd, follows his grandfather, Dr. Jack Weber, a resident of Westhampton Beach, who turned 100 in 2024. In it, Weber, a World War II and Korean War Navy veteran, reflects on his life and military service. The film includes interviews, archival footage, and scenes from Weber’s daily activities, including golfing, driving and attending community events.
The event will include a red-carpet photo opportunity before the screening and a question-and-answer session with the filmmakers afterward.
Weber, who served as a Navy dentist, enlisted after the attack on Pearl Harbor and rose through the ranks to become an officer. He has been a member of Lions Clubs International for more than seven decades and remains active with the Riverhead Lions Club. A portion of proceeds from the screening will benefit the club’s community programs.
Following the Riverhead event, the documentary is scheduled to appear at film festivals on Long Island, in New York City, New Jersey and Washington, D.C.
Weber, now 101, continues to participate in public events and plans to attend upcoming screenings.
Tickets start at $35 at lessonsfrom100.com. The Suffolk is at 118 East Main Street in Riverhead.
