The Suffolk presents “Manticore: The Tribute to Emerson, Lake & Palmer” on Saturday, October 19, at 8 p.m.

Manticore pays homage to the legacy of the incomparable symphonic rock band, Emerson, Lake & Palmer, faithfully reproducing the music that, in the early 1970s, had a powerful and vital impact on the burgeoning music scene at the time.

Emerson, Lake & Palmer took classical pieces by the masters — Bach, Tchaikovsky, Bartók, Copeland, Mussorgsky, Ginastera, Brubeck — and reinterpreted them in a way that the original masters could never have foreseen. ELP infused them with the wilder elements of rock ’n’ roll — distortion, rhythm, power and flash. They established a foundation for future bands such as Yes, Rush, Kiss, Queen and Dream Theater while raising the bar for rock bands, enticing them to go big or go home by performing this music in concert halls, stadiums and arenas worldwide.

Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the “Brain Salad Surgery” album, Manticore will perform all the hits from this album alongside traditional favorites like “Lucky Man” and “Fanfare for the Common Man,” as well as some deep tracks that are sure to keep the audience on their toes. Manticore brings the excitement, bombast and spirit of an ELP show right to your doorstep.
