The Hampton Theatre Company has announced its 32nd season, including additional Saturday matinees to accommodate the demand for daytime tickets to its series of dramas, comedies and thrillers.
The doors open in Quogue on October 20, with David Mamet’s Oval Office satire, “November,” a laugh-out-loud look at one day in the life of an egomaniacal and beleaguered American commander-in-chief, President Charles Smith, seeking reelection. The play originally opened on Broadway in 2008, starring Nathan Lane in the role of President Smith.
The season will continue in January, with Amy Herzog’s “4,000 Miles.” A dramatic comedy, which was performed in 2011 and 2012 Off-Broadway, was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. It centers on the relationship between a grandmother and grandson in a West Village, and won the 2014 Obie for Best New American Play.
In March, HTC will continue its run with Bernard Slade’s “An Act of the Imagination,” a mystery/thriller set in 1960s London, with the summer production slated in June with Michael Frayn’s “Alarms and Excursions,” which offers a hard look at the technology that is supposed to make our lives easier and often fails.
