Artist Margaret Garrett will lead an “Insight Sunday” discussion at The Church on Sunday, November 16, at noon, exploring the beauty of line, shape and form.

Garrett, a former professional dancer turned visual artist, will discuss her inspirations and creative process in the making of “Canon,” a video representative of her movement-based work. Following the presentation, the talk will include a Q&A session with the audience.

Garrett began creating videos in order to discover shapes for her paintings, eventually developing a unique visual language of video collages that explore movement, shape, and contrapuntal patterns. “Canon” is on view as part of “Here & There — The First Churchennial,” The Church’s fall exhibition, now running.

Margaret Garrett’s interdisciplinary work spans painting, collage, printmaking, and video art. Her work is included in private and corporate collections across the U.S. and Europe and has been shown at Planthouse, Danese/Corey, FLAG Art Foundation, and Birnam Wood Gallery in New York City. Public commissions include a 40-foot glass mural for NYU Langone, fabricated with Peters Studio in Germany. Museum collections include Blanton Art Museum, Parrish Art Museum, Jordan Schnitzer Collection, The Leiber Collection and Guild Hall Museum.

Tickets are $10 (members attend for free with RSVP) at thechurchsagharbor.org. The Church is at 48 Madison Street in Sag Harbor.
