Journalist Joe Dolce Releases Comprehensive Guide to Psychedelics

As global interest in psychedelics continues to rise, journalist Joe Dolce offers a timely and comprehensive resource in his new book, “Modern Psychedelics: The Handbook for Mindful Exploration,” released recently by Black Dog & Leventhal.

In a Wellness Monday talk at The Church in Sag Harbor on October 13, at 3 p.m., Dolce, an Amagansett resident, will present “Modern Psychedelics for Health & Healing.” Dolce will share his thoughts on how psychedelics and microdosing have been used to open the doors of perception and increase awareness and treat illnesses that eluded modern medicine and big pharma. Ready to field questions, Dolce welcomes the curious in a lengthened Q&A. Copies of Modern Psychedelics will be available to purchase and will be signed by the author after the event.

In his book, Dolce dives into how psychedelics have been used in treatments by physicians worldwide, and have been proven to assist individuals navigating depression, anxiety, PTSD, substance use disorders, and more. Learn how these therapies work and more from a leading voice in the psychedelic world.

The paperback guide combines contemporary science, ancient traditions, and practical advice for those curious about or experienced with psychedelics. Designed for users, the psychedelic-curious, and wellness seekers, the book provides a framework for responsible use, preparation, and post-experience integration. Dolce also explains the neuroscience behind psychedelics, including how substances like psilocybin and LSD promote neuroplasticity, potentially leading to long-term personal growth.

“Modern Psychedelics” explores the benefits, dosing guidelines, and risks associated with all major psychedelic substances, including MDMA, psilocybin (“magic mushrooms”), ketamine, DMT/5-MeO-DMT, ayahuasca, LSD, mescaline (peyote and huachuma) and iboga/ibogaine.

The book reviews emerging research into how psychedelics are being used to treat conditions such as PTSD, chronic depression, anxiety, and addiction to opioids, alcohol, tobacco, and even smartphones. It also examines the reported benefits of microdosing, including improved mood, mindfulness, and motor skills, as well as a heightened sense of connection.
