Southampton Arts Center Celebrates 2016 Season At SummerFest Food And Wine Festival

author on Aug 29, 2016

Throughout the summer, the Southampton Arts Center has hosted live music, art exhibitions, outdoor movie screenings and kids’ programs for every village local and visitor to enjoy, and now the center will celebrate its successful season with its third annual SummerFest Food and Wine Festival on Thursday, September 1.

More than two dozen restaurants, chefs and vendors from New York and all over the East End are bringing a wide selection of food and drinks. Buoy One, Kozu, La Parmigiana, Union Cantina, Casamigos Tequila, Splash Mixers and Tasting NYC are among the many participants.

During the evening, guests can explore the center and view the current exhibition on display, “Winning the White House: From Press Prints to Selfies.” In collaboration with the International Center of Photography in Manhattan, this show examines how photography and campaign material from presidential elections have become more significant over the years due to technology and mass media. There will also be campaign-themed photo booth and music by DJ Karin Ward.

This year’s festival is the first time that the center will present its Champion of the Arts Award. The inaugural recipient will be Renee Harbers Liddell, the executive vice president of the Board of Trustees for the International Center of Photography. She is also the founder and CEO of the Harbers Family Foundation and Harbers Studios, which combines visual storytelling and philanthropy.

She helped bring the current exhibition to the arts center, as well as “Cuba! Cuba!” last summer, so the staff wanted to recognize and thank her for her contributions.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the center and its efforts to provide Southampton with art and culture for many seasons to come.

The third annual SummerFest Food and Wine Festival will take place on Thursday, September 1, from 6 to 10 p.m. Tickets start at $250 and tables start at $10,000. They can be purchased at the door. For more information, visit southamptonartscenter.org.
