For the many Ruth Bader Ginsburg fans, in memory of her September 18 passing from cancer at the age of 87, Hamptons Doc Fest founder/executive director Jacqui Lofaro has arranged for a special screening of “RBG” on the www.hamptonsdocfest website this Friday, September 25.
The documentary “RBG” (2018, 97 min.), directed and produced by Betsy West and Julie Cohen, had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in 2018.
Appointed to the U.S. Supreme Court by President Bill Clinton in 1993, Ruth Bader Ginsburg was only the second female on the nation’s highest court and a trailblazing champion of women’s rights who became an octogenarian rock star, the Notorious RBG.
The film follows her life and career, graduating at the top of her class at Columbia Law School, working as a law school professor, serving on the U.S. Court of Appeals, winning groundbreaking legal rulings for gender equality, and even following her on vacation with her family, and working with her physical trainer.
“We are so glad to bring this very special screening to our audiences, in addition to our regular Wednesday Fest Favorites,” said Lofaro. “We join in the national sadness of those who mourn losing such a giant.”
