Springs Library will host a meet the author event with Montauk surfer and artist Tony Caramanico on Tuesday, June 4, at 6 p.m. The talk will take place at Ashawagh Hall and be moderated by writer, surfer and Springs resident Biddle Duke.

In his large-format book “Montauk Surf Journals” released this spring, Caramanico has assembled art covering 60 years of surf travel and competition amid fellow surf searchers, artists and the luminaries of the sport. Caramanico’s art is a chronicling of his life, collages of journals that combine words, art, pictures and magazine and newspaper clippings.

Caramanico is a keen observer and the book offers a creative, colorful glimpse into the artist’s lifelong devotion to chasing waves and working surfing as a business. It describes a sport and pastime and a world in a period of immense change and upheaval. The book and the art it contains is about friends and celebrities, far flung adventures, dangers faced and dodged — but always, the road seems to end at a place with good waves.

Ashawagh Hall is at 780 Springs Fireplace Road in East Hampton.
