WAINSCOTT — East Hampton Town Police were called to a Montauk Highway gas station during the overnight hours of April 1 into April 2. The night manager told police that he arrived at work at about 10 o’clock that night and there was a man who was loitering on the property and who had entered the store a couple of times. The manager said that the unwanted visitor had bought one can of beer, but was now outside on the east side of the property, holding two cans of a different alcoholic beverage, as well as a tan backpack. MONTAUK — Bill Emmanuel Govits, 25, of Port Jefferson was arrested by Town Police on a charge of criminal contempt in the second-degree, a misdemeanor. According to the police, the arrest was made after a traffic stop on Montauk Highway just east of the Hither Hills overlook. Police said that Govits violated a stay-away order of protection issued out of Suffolk County’s First District Court on March 26 of this year, which requires him to have absolutely no contact with the protected party, who, police said, was the passenger in the car that Govits was driving. EAST HAMPTON VILLAGE — Matthew William Scott, 39, of East Quogue was arrested again by the East Hampton Village Police on April 9, accused of, once again, violating a court order of protection issued to a former domestic partner of Scott, which requires Scott to have absolutely no contact of any kind, including via phone calls or text messages. The specific charge against Scott this time was criminal contempt in the second-degree, a misdemeanor. MONTAUK — East Hampton Town Police arrested Christopher Joseph Loffredo, 22, of Montauk on the afternoon of April 2 on misdemeanor charges of reckless driving and unlawful fleeing of a police officer in a motor vehicle in the third degree. The arrest concluded an investigation that began the afternoon of January 16. The motor vehicle in question was a blue Yamaha dirt-bike that police said was not registered as a motor vehicle.
