Ernest Mott
Ernest Mott of East Hampton died in Sebastian, Florida, on Tuesday, December 13. He was 91.
Mr. Mott served four years during World War II as a medic in a U.S. Army Hospital in England, caring for the wounded. For many years he worked for the Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company and was a volunteer fireman for 53 years with the East Hampton Fire Department.
Mr. Mott was a member of the American Legion Post 419 and the VFW Post 550. He was also a member of the South Fork Country Club.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Kathleen; two daughters, Maureen Babin of New Jersey and Karen Pitstick of Florida; five grandchildren, Kathleen Nowsch and Gary Babin of Nevada, Danielle Bertagna of New Jersey, Melissa Pitstick of and Ryan Pitstick of Florida; great-grandchildren, Erich Nowsch, Sonya and Jade Pitstick.
Visitation took place on Sunday, December 18, at Yardley & Pino Funeral Home in East Hampton. A funeral Mass was held on Monday, December 19, at the Most Holy Trinity Church also in East Hampton. Interment followed at the church’s cemetery.
