Police said Sovtan was driving a 2014 Nissan suburban on Old Montauk Highway in Montauk, moving at 52 mph in a 30-mph zone, leading to the traffic stop. He appeared intoxicated, the arresting officer reported, and failed roadside sobriety tests, after which he was placed under arrest. Jennifer L. McDowell, 38, of Northwest Woods, was charged with felony aggravated DWI by East Hampton Town Police last Thursday night. Driving a 2016 Jeep on Swamp Road, McDowell lost control of the vehicle and struck a tree, police said. The first officer to respond suspected McDowell was possibly intoxicated and had her do roadside sobriety tests, which she reportedly failed.
