Q: What happens when New York City’s hottest chefs pair up with Wölffer winemaker Roman Roth?

A: Grilling with Roman, which is back and better than ever.

Wölffer Estate Vineyard’s three-part series of fiery food and wine bring acclaimed chefs Jacques Gautier of Palo Santo, Kia Damon of Lalito, and Paul Donnelly of Chinese Tuxedo to Sagaponack this summer where they will join forces with winemaker Mr. Roth for three al fresco dining experiences. Each evening will challenge the conventions of grilling with unique menus, global flair and innovative wine pairings.

Friday, June 28:

The series begins with Jacques Gautier of Palo Santo bringing a taste of Latin America with a little Caribbean flare to the meal. Mr. Gautier and Mr. Roth, longtime friends, will put on a show behind the grill making this a flame-filled asado to remember.

Chef Gautier draws his influence from Caribbean family roots as well as his extensive travels and time spent working in renowned restaurants. His eclectic cooking expresses a versatile understanding of culinary tradition. An avid home gardener himself, supporting local, sustainable agriculture is of utmost importance to chef Gautier. On Saturday mornings throughout the summer you can find him giving public cooking demos at the Grand Army Plaza Greenmarket.

Thursday, July 11:

For one joyous evening, Mr. Roth and Wölffer Estate Vineyard co-owner Joey Wölffer team up for a celebration of dynamic grilling and female chefs. Kia Damon, of Lalito, will be serving up a world-class dinner alongside friends Elizabeth Karmel, a serious grill-master, and Yossy Arefi who can bake on a grill like no one else, proving that there is nothing you can't make on a grill.

Chef Damon’s premise in the kitchen hinges on the mutual empowerment of those around her, uplifting marginalized voices in the food and service industry.

North Carolina native Elizabeth Karmel, a.k.a. Grill Girl, is a nationally respected authority on grilling, barbecue and Southern food. She launched CarolinaCueToGo.com, an Online Barbecue Shack, in 2015 to make whole-hog barbecue more easily accessible. She is the founding executive chef of Hill Country Barbecue Market in Brooklyn, and Washington, DC.

Yossy Arefi is a Brooklyn based photographer and baker. Originally from Seattle, she moved to New York in 2007 where she worked in restaurant kitchens honing her baking skills for a few years before hanging up her apron and picking up her camera full time in 2012. Apt. 2B Baking Co. started in 2010 when she decided to combine her loves of photography and baking.

Thursday, August 1:

Mr. Roth and Chef Paul Donnelly team up for an awe-inspiring grilling experience straight from Chinatown. In iconic Chinese Tuxedo style, the pair will be serving up delicious dim-sum served Chinese banquet style among the Wölffer vines.

Chef Donnelly is originally from Glasgow, Scotland, and spent the early years of his career in kitchens throughout Southeast Asia and in Sydney, Australia, working for world-renowned chefs such as Gordon Ramsay and David Thompson. A New York transplant since 2016, he pushes the boundaries of New York’s Chinese cuisine, creating classic and modern dishes rooted in traditional Chinese culture.
