George Mossin Hansen Jr., 79, of Blairsville, Ga., formerly of Sag Harbor, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 30, 2018, due to complications of Parkinson's disease.
Born, August 24, 1939, in Boston, Massachusetts to Myrtle (Heyn) Hansen and George Mossin Hansen, he is survived by his loving wife, Maureen; two children from a previous marriage: George Mossin Hansen III of Arlington, Virginia and Susan (Walter) Zaykowski of Bristol, Rhode lsland; three siblings: Carolyn Vokes of Alabama, June (Bert) Hombergen of Florida and Donald (Roseanne) Hansen of Massachusetts; two grandchildren, two great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and friends.
Mr. Hansen was a 35-year employee of the East Hampton Town Highway Department, retiring in 1993. While living in Sag Harbor, he served as an active member of the Wamponamon Lodge #437, was a member of the planning board and served as a Republican Committeeman for District 2. He enjoyed traveling and the natural beauty of the mountains of Union County for the past 20 years.
At his request, there will be no formal service. A private service will be held at a later date, with interment in Oakland Cemetery, Sag Harbor. ln lieu of flowers, donations to a favorite charity would be appreciated.
