It is rare to be granted a second chance in life. Our community is lucky that the STAR project on Magee Street is giving Southampton the opportunity to rectify the bad choice made almost 50 years ago, when installing a pool in the then-new high school was voted down.
Let’s be sure that this time we support making swimming lessons, recreation and rehabilitation available to all — especially ensuring that every child in this waterfront community learns to swim and, ideally, enjoy the water.
