Arlene Mentock of Water Mill died on March 13 at her daughter Eileen Robles’s home, where she had been residing for the past 18 years. She was 77.
A longtime member of the New Beginnings Christian Center in Coram, she actively participated in the Senior Citizen program in Hampton Bays, where she enjoyed arts and crafts and crocheting.
Survivors said this week that Mrs. Mentock was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. They added that she was an extraordinary woman who captured everyone’s heart with her generous spirit and touched many lives with her warm, considerate and loving ways.
In addition to her daughter Eileen, she is survived by three daughters, Evelyn Mentock of Holbrook, and Barbara Faulkner and Donna Rodriguez, both of Texas; a son, Edward Mentock Jr., also of Texas; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Edward Louis Mentock, a World War II veteran.
The family received visitors on March 16 at Brockett Funeral Home in Southampton. Interment was on March 17 at Long Island National Cemetery at Pinelawn. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to East End Hospice, P.O. Box 1048, Westhampton Beach, N.Y. 11978, would be appreciated by the family.
