Joseph L. Gallo of Sag Harbor died on April 19 at Southampton Hospital. He was 86.

Born May 30, 1922, in Italy to Isabella and Antonio Gallo, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and worked as a New York City Police officer.

He is survived by his wife, Louise (née Russo) Gallo of Sag Harbor; two daughters, Rosemary Vilardi of Lake Grove and Linda Termini of Mt. Sinai; a son, Joseph Gallo of Seaford; a brother, Larry Gallo of Smithtown; five grandchildren, Joe, Kristine, Jason, Lisa and Joe G.; three great-grandchlidren, Marisa, Alexis and Justin; and 16 nieces and nephews.

The family received visitors on April 20 at the Yardley & Pino Funeral Home in Sag Harbor. Funeral services were held on April 21 at St. Andrew’s Church in Sag Harbor, followed by interment at Calverton National Cemetery.
